Bernadette: I joined as an enjoyable way to get some exercise.
Amanda: In 1989 I saw Dacre dancing at Mycenae House. I told my new neighbour how wonderful they were, and she said, “I’m one of them and you’re coming on Monday”.
Zoë: I’ve always been interested in British folk and specifically the more celebratory side of ancient traditions like morris. I came to watch the side perform a decade ago and loved it.
Elizabeth: I wanted a new challenge and had read about morris ever since I was a child.
Dawn: I enjoyed ballet and tap dancing as a child, but finding suitable dancing as an adult was trickier – especially without a willing partner! Morris filled my dancing gap rather marvellously.
Tish: The red shoes! And dancing to live music.
Sue: I joined Dacre at the tender age of 65, ten years ago. I knew I needed to dance but salsa and line dancing didn’t hit the spot. What I love is that the dances come from particular villages and go back centuries.
